The oil-immersed PV transformer is a critical power transmission and distribution device widely used in photovoltaic (PV) power stations. It is commonly installed in pad-mounted substations (PV compact substations) or utilized as a standalone transformer unit.
Its primary function is to step up the medium-voltage output generated by PV inverters — such as 0.8 kV, 10 kV, or 35 kV — to higher grid transmission voltages including 35 kV, 66 kV, or 110 kV, ensuring stable and efficient integration into the power grid.
As the “gateway” of solar power plants, the PV transformer plays an essential role in transmitting clean and renewable solar energy safely and reliably to utility networks.
